It's Apple Time

Hey NYC it’s Apple Time! Autumn is here - time for fall leaves, that crispy bite in the air, pulling out your cozy sweaters for the first time in months, and of course, apples. New York State is one of our countries true centers for apple picking. Farms across the state gear up for apple picking. As a New Yorker, this is a great time to plan a day trip to one of the amazing apple farms just outside the city. That’s right, just a hop, skip and a reasonable metro north ticket (or zip car, your own car, or a friends car) away and you can be standing on a farm, sipping a hot chocolate, finishing your third apple cider donut, and picking apples.

Apples are Healthy and Versatile

Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. Here is an article about apple health benefits, https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/10-health-benefits-of-apples. Apples can be used and prepared in so many ways including baked in breads, muffins, dumplings, used as a garnish, a flavor enhancer for soups, mixed in salads, and so much more. Of course few things beat just taking a nice bite out of a fresh apple.
